Congratulations to Brent Lawrence, who was recently awarded a Math for America (MƒA) Fellowship. We are honored to thank and recognize Mr. Lawrence for this accomplishment, and for how his engagement within MƒA is having a positive impact on his classroom and our larger school community.
Congratulations to Soledad Mexquititla, Moesha Gabriel, Yakiree Addison, Katherine Encarnacion, Emily Cordero, Jendre Firpo, Cristal Flores, Cassandra Cortez, Yuri Gomez Velasco, Majahlah Jones, Latrell Jones, Ja Nai Keitt, Emely Valdez, Kaleah Teague, Dianna Tavarez, and Clifphonia Stubbs, who exhibited artwork at the COPE NYC Art Expo last Saturday. Their work is on display at the Pfizer building at 630 Flushing Ave - go check it out!
Make a fast break to the polls this November and register to vote at the upcoming Buckets & Ballots basketball clinic and voting registration event this Monday, October 8th! Join us at Brooklyn Bridge Park from 3-5:30pm for a celebration of people's power at the ballot box, featuring a basketball clinic with retired NBA star Kenny Anderson, Madison Square Garden Basketball Camp Director Julia Smith, and BCAM High School. DJ Devanity will spin all afternoon. Featured speakers include Ramon Contreras from March for Our Lives and local youth leaders. Global History teacher Sarina Maros, 11th Grader Joelmy Acevedo, PTA President Anita Whitfield and Social Worker Denyse Murray being honored by our Superintendency for their outstanding service and support to BCAM for 2017-18. Joelmy presented a wonderful speech about Ms. Maros and her work as an outstanding and truly caring teacher. Ms. Murray and Ms. Whitfield were also presented awards for their incredible work. Congratulations, and thank you for all you do for our school!
Please join us Friday, May 18th at 6pm in our auditorium for our 6th annual BCAM End-of-Year Gala. Students will showcase their artistic accomplishments through dance, song, rap, films and visual arts they've worked on all year. Friends and family are all welcome.
Please join us this Saturday, May 12th from 11am-3pm for our first annual Community Forum & Carnival. We will be sharing all of the great work we've done this year at BCAM, then enjoying free food, carnival games, and raffles - bring family & friends!
A huge thank you to our librarian Mr. Cunningham and Donors Choose for $500 of graphic novels for our library! These graphic novels will help to support our ELL/ESL students in developing their skills, while engaging them as readers.
